Load Control Including Over-Temperature Shutdown up to approx. 9 KW
Description
Temperature control including pre-alarm and safety-oriented emergency shutdown in case of overtemperature. Ready for use, set up for temperature-dependent control of high-voltage heaters, which are typically operated at 400VAC (3x230V) and found in kilns or similar devices. The switching of similar loads is also possible. By using so-called semiconductor relays for load switching, the device is particularly suitable for control via a so-called P.I.D. control loop. An intelligent microcontroller calculates a defined heating power suitable for reaching and maintaining the set temperature without significant fluctuations. After reaching the set value, the controller releases only as much heating power as necessary to maintain the preselected temperature point via pulse signals. Unlike conventional ON/OFF switching with selectable hysteresis, which is also possible with this device, using a P.I.D. control loop can achieve a very linear temperature curve without oscillation.
An integrated optical/acoustic pre-alarm is triggered when reaching a temperature to be entered, without interfering with the control function. The alarm automatically turns off after cooling below the alarm value.
In case of further unauthorized temperature rise, a safety-oriented load shedding occurs by dropping the control voltage on a safety relay integrated in the load circuit. Due to forced latching, switching on again is only possible after cooling to normal temperature and pressing the "START / Reset" button.
The controller can be switched for either heating or, optionally, for cooling operation (e.g., for controlling cooling fans or similar applications).
The maximum switchable load is approx. 9 KW (AC1) in continuous operation. The load to be switched is controlled via a so-called SSR relay with a rated power of max. 400V/40A (Max. actual switching load: up to 10.5 KW).
The used controller unit (our item no. TR-50) is multi-sensor capable. Depending on the sensor used, measurement in ranges between -199°C...+2,300°C is possible. For measurements up to max. +500°, we recommend selecting a PT100 sensor type, as it provides a resolution of 1/10° C. The use of a thermocouple in this controller, due to the 4-digit display and higher measurement range, results in a resolution accurate to one degree. In general, no sensor is included in the scope of delivery. However, if ordered without a sensor, it comes with a non-specified test PT100 sensor.
The delivery includes the ready-to-operate controller as shown above, pre-configured for PT100.
The control cabinet is suitable for wall mounting. The consumers to be switched are either plugged into a CEKON socket on the front or, depending on the version, the load can be connected directly at the prepared cable entries and terminals inside the control cabinet. Optionally, additional safety components like emergency stop buttons, door switches, bimetal guards, level indicators, etc., can be integrated into the existing safety shutdown.
